How To Get Ground Beef Super Cheap

Kim Brush2 Comments

Finding quality meat has been one of those “adventures” that gave me a headache for MANY years! If I could find a good sale at a local grocery store I would buy 10-20 pounds of meat to put in the freezer but with a family of 6 that meat seemed to disappear all too soon. That is why I am so excited to have found a way to get excellent quality beef at a reasonable price.

What to do with 40# of ground beef!!!

Back in December I ordered 40# of awesome 80/20 hamburger at $2.79/lb from Zaycon Fresh. I thought that was an awesome price because locally 80/20 hamburger costs $3.50. Over the course of a couple of afternoons I made up meals for the freezer. This has made getting meals on the table in January and February extremely simple.

Family eating you out of house and home? Want to buy high quality meat for a reasonable price? Here's how to do it! - DaytoDayAdventures.com

Below are the meals I made

Meat loaf x 3
Sloppy joes x 3
8 packs of raw ground beef(2#)
Chimichangas x 20
8 packs of browned ground beef(2#)
1 spaghetti casserole

This is the next best thing to my grandfather's straight from the farm beef!! When I buy beef from my local grocer there is more grease and I cannot leave it in the refrigerator for more than a couple of days or it goes bad.

This meat is comparable to the higher quality meats that you can buy in the grocery store!  Even if I can't get it processed the first day that we get it home I know it will last longer than grocery store meat. This is the reason.

How do I get Zaycon Fresh meat?

Zaycon Fresh Foods is a meat co-op with pickup locations locally, and all over the country!  I bet there is one within 30 minutes of you! Find out by entering your zip code after you register! (affiliate)

How does this nationwide meat co-op work?

You order in bulk. That means you will not need to buy meat each time you go to the store. You can make awesome for freezer meals and prepackage the meat to fit the size of your family!  Is the bulk amount too much? Consider splitting it with another family.

Things to know about orderingfrom Zaycon Fresh!

  • Each meat is only available a few times per year. There are sales at different times for chicken, ground beef, ground turkey, bacon, etc.
  • You order now for a pickup in the future – usually 2-4 months ahead of time. Yes, you will be ordering now for a future pickup. Pre-ordering allows the farms to produce the meats required and because everyone is ordering direct, it drives the price down. If it’s not sold in the grocery stores, how do I get it? .
  • Then on the pick up date you go to a local pick-up site as they are delivered to the area fresh in a cold truck. The pick-up spot is usually just within a few minutes of your home and they are in a parking lot of a private business/organization (like a church parking lot) and the pick-up time for your area will be on a certain date and a small window of time (usually 30 minutes) on that day. When you arrive you will give your name and then they load up your meat. Seriously you don’t even need to get out!
  • Bring it home and process it how you like. I like to cook some and freeze some raw. It allows me to have choices when it's time to make a meal!

We all want the best quality at the best price for our meat, right?  Just to be sure this really is a good deal I went to the store and checked the price on 93/7 and 80/20 ground beef.  I was shocked!  80/20 was $3.50 a pound and 93/7 was $4.99 a pound!!!

Head to the Zaycon Site HERE and register (or log-in if already a member) and add whatever combination of 93/7 or 80/20 ground beef you want!   Just FYI turkey burger is on sale too if that is more your style!  We love all three of these types of meats and eat them every week!

The sale price for ground beef will be $3.79 for the 93/7 and $2.79 for the 80/20, which is a great price compared to the grocery store.

Please note, you will order now, and pick this order up in mid-July (exact dates are based on your location). I know it seems weird to order now for pick-up then, but this is how you get those farm fresh meats for low prices – like a co-op!

You have to be registered to see the prices, pickup and delivery details and dates for your area and additional details. If you don’t want 40-lbs of beef, go in on this option with friends. Each case contains 4 10-lb rolls, so it can easily be divided.
